The winter weather nearly caused a second postponement to this fixture but a swift change of venue allowed the game to go ahead. Having migrated across Ipswich to Chantry, both sides started brightly and played out a tight open fifteen minutes. IES took the lead from a short corner, Cathy Cook receiving at the top D and hitting cleanly to the far post, with the Christchurch defence uncharacteristically slow off the mark. After that, Christchurch bossed the game and were back on level terms when Alex stormed down the wing, drew the keeper off her line and supplied Megan with a cross begging to be tucked into the empty net. With typical speed and guile, Alex then put Christchurch into the lead with a goal of her own. Megan completed the comeback with an incredible first time strike from a short corner, beating the keeper at her near post from a tight angle by the sheer power of her shot. In the end, 3-1 did not reflect Christchurch’s dominance and without the influence of Gill Burch and Faye Godden at the back for IES, the scoreline could have been much higher. MOTM: Sam
