Christchurch travelled to Lowestoft, knowing that they would have to be wary of a team challenging for second place in the table. Immediately from the push back, the home side showed why they have been having such a good season and dominated the opening of the game but were unable to work their way through Kathryn, Sam and Lois in defence. Christchurch responded and began to look sharper, taking the attack back to Lowestoft and creating opportunities in front of goal but were frustrated by some good defending. The breakthrough finally came at the end of a lovely passage of Christchurch play. A deft touch from Nat in the centre of the pitch found Helen up ahead and her pass out to Alex enabled her to dance through the defence and beat the keeper. Christchurch were in control for much of the remainder of the first half, restricting Lowestoft to rare breaks, but despite more chances, they were unable to push on and increase their lead When Lowestoft came out from half time with all guns blazing, Christchurch were wondering whether they might end up ruing missed chances to score in the first half. Almost predictably, the home side equalised, albeit with a slightly fortunate goal when Linzi’s attempted clearance took a couple of ricochets before landing in the path of a striker with a clear shot on goal. Christchurch wobbled, but rode the storm and regained the lead when Helen, Alex and Megan combined to make it 2-1. Things remained closely fought until Megan found the net to give Christchurch a bit of breathing space for the remainder of the game. MOTM- Helen
